Global Conference on Home-Based Workers (HBW) at New Delhi from 8th - 10th February

(Me first time in a Red National Dress)

I attended Global Conference on Home Based Workers at New Delhi this February from 8th to 11th. I was sent  by  Saba Maldives selected by the Saba board as I am one of the board member. It's not only me who attended this conference as a Maldivian, Anthu(right) from Maldives authentic Arts, Haneefa(middle) from Addu corporation society and me in left representing Saba Maldives.

WIEGO and HomeNet South Asia (HNSA) brought together over 100 home-based worker leaders and supporters, from over 20 countries, for the Global Conference on Home-based Workers and the HomeNet South Asia General Body Meeting.
Participants were from Africa (Kenya, South Africa and Uganda); Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, and Peru); Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan); South East Asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand); and South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka).
The conference was a four-day event and included workshops, field visits (including a visit to Suraj Kund artisan market, and a celebration recognizing the contributions of home-based workers. The conference allowed home-based workers to work together to identify issues and strategize on their priorities. Participants from outside South Asia participated as observers in the General Body Meeting of HomeNet South Asia, held on the third day of the event.
Objectives of the Global Conference on Home-based Workers were:
a) To build solidarity and strengthen networks of home-based workers and their organizations;
b) To share experiences and learnings
c) To adopt a Global Declaration on Home-based Workers and Action Plan.

Above three pictures are from the field visit to Suraj Kund artisan market...
Our accommodation was arranged at Radisson Blu Hotel. Below are some pictures of the hotel and some foods I enjoyed.

Thank you Saba Maldives for giving me this opportunity.
